Nasal and Sinus Surgery

Dr Ram Sivasubramaniam assesses and treats many adult and paediatric patients with nasal and sinus disorders. These disorders can vary from blocked nose, hay fever, acute sinusitis, chronic sinusitis and benign & malignant tumours of the nose or sinuses.

Some of the common procedures include:

Septal surgery (Septoplasty & Septal reconstruction
Turbinate surgery
Mini / Selective and Extensive Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)
Modified Endoscopic Lothrop Procedure (MELP)
External Septorhinoplasty
Revision surgery in any of the above

These procedures are done at both public and private hospital depending on the patient's preference.

What happens at the appointment?

You will fill out a patient registration form with the Reception staff on your first visit

You may also fill out a questionnaire looking at your Sino-nasal symptoms electronically on your visits. (This is an option and does not impact on your care)

You will then be seen by Dr Ram Sivasubramaniam and assessed with an endoscopy as required.

The plan for your management and any investigations would be discussed with you and an appropriate follow-up would then be organised for you.

What to bring for your appointment with Dr Ram Sivasubramaniam?

You will need to bring an active referral letter from your General Practitioner or a Specialist

Bring all you imaging that have been done in the head and neck region in the past (CT scans / MRI scans) along with any recent blood tests (including allergy testing).

Bring a list of all your current medications and any medications that you may have tried for the nose in the past

Surgery?

Not everyone will require surgery to manage their Sino-nasal condition. However, if you do require surgery, then you will be advised of the surgery, the alternative options, the risks and benefits of the surgery in detail by Dr Ram Sivasubramaniam and the team in the rooms. Once the decision is made by you, the booking would be organised by the rooms.

The RACS Information sheets and individualised information sheets would be given to you to give you more explanations about the procedure.
